Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Act II, Scene 8 Summary

How It All Goes Down

Hogwarts, Hospital Wing

  • While Albus sleeps in a hospital bed, Harry chats with Dumbledore's portrait.
  • The Dumble-painting gives Harry some impromptu parenting advice.
  • Tip 1: "You're supposed to teach him how to meet life" (2.8.15).
  • Tip 2: "Perhaps you are blinded by your love for him" (2.8.21).
  • Tip 3: "You must see him as he is, Harry. You must look for what's wounding him" (2.8.23).
  • Then Dumble-art is gone.
  • Albus, Dumbledore's namesake, wakes up.
  • Harry gives Albus some chocolate, which is sweet, and an order, which isn't.
  • Harry orders Albus to stay away from his only friend, Scorpius Malfoy.
  • Because Harry will believe a man who is half-horse above his own son, he believes that the dark cloud alluded to by the centaur Bane is really Scorpius Malfoy.
  • And to make sure Albus and Scorpius don't try and see each other in secret, Harry says he'll monitor his son using the Marauder's Map.
  • Wow, Harry really is up to no good this time.
