How we cite our quotes: All quotations are from Toy Story.
Quote #1
WOODY: Hey, listen, no one's getting replaced. This is Andy we're talking about…It doesn't matter how much we're played with. What matters is that we're here for Andy when he needs us. That's what we're made for. Right?
This is the toy mission statement right here. It's every plaything's destiny. They exist to play with kids. They need to be there for Andy no matter how they feel. It's kind of sad in a way, but sweet to know that even toys have a purpose in life.
Quote #2
WOODY: All right, that's enough! Look, we're all very impressed with Andy's new toy.
BUZZ: Toy?
WOODY: T-O-Y! Toy!
BUZZ: Excuse me, I think the word you're searching for is "space ranger."
WOODY: The word I'm searching for I can't say because there's preschool toys present.
This is our first hint that Buzz is pretty clueless. He doesn't realize his true identity. He's thinks he actually a space ranger…even though everyone else knows he's just a toy. A cool toy, but still.
Quote #3
WOODY: You actually think you're the Buzz Lightyear? Hey, look, everybody! It's the real Buzz Lightyear!
BUZZ: You're mocking me, aren't you?
WOODY: Oh, no, no, no, no, no. Buzz look, an alien!
BUZZ: Where?
Woody gets a pretty big chuckle out of this. Sure, he thought Buzz was putting on an act with the whole space ranger thing, but now he realizes Buzz is 100% serious about saving the galaxy from the evil emperor Zurg. Good luck doing that from Andy's bedroom.
