How It All Goes Down

- Sean is in the crowd, listening to the thumping of the Scorpio drums as the mare goddess glides by.
- She smears Sean's face with blood, and tells him to make a wish.
- Sean spends the rest of the night trying to figure out who the woman in the horse-head costume could be, thinking it's Peg Gratton.
- He goes to the butcher shop, which is also a restaurant/betting parlor, and sees that the odds for Kate (a.k.a. Puck) Connolly winning are 45-1. Them's bad odds.
- To make matters worse, Mutt Malvern has signed up with a different horse: Skata, the piebald mare.
