Social Worker

Character Analysis

This character is very minor. She is simply there to do her job and pick up Bud and Jerry to take them to their new homes. She does serve a purpose for the reader and helps fill out the setting a bit. When she describes the depression for the reader, how, "People can't find jobs and these are very, very difficult times for everybody" (1.13), she ensures that we know the time period and the big historical event going on, even if we might not know exactly what the depression is, we know people are poor.
