Bud, Not Buddy Chapter 4 Summary

  • Bud sneaks into the Amos family's kitchen and finds his suitcase. When he feels that it is the right weight, he is relieved. He places it on the back porch.
  • When he goes back inside, Bud thinks about how if he were Todd, he wouldn't like having strange kids coming into his house either.
  • Okay, and then, well, we hate to say it, but Bud actually picks up the shotgun and pretends to shoot Todd while aiming at the stove.
  • Then, remembering his plan, Bud puts the gun outside because guns are really dangerous. He doesn't want Mr. Amos running to get it.
  • Phew! Not like we thought Bud was going to shoot anybody, but man, oh, man we are surely relieved that he puts the gun outside.
  • Okay, so Bud grabs a glass, fills it with warm water, and heads upstairs. Can you guess what he is about to do? No?
  • He sticks Todd's fingers into the warm water and waits for him to "woop, zoop, sloop" (4.24). Translation: he waits for Todd to wet the bed.
  • Um, but Todd doesn't do it. Hmm, now what to do?
  • Bud pours the water onto Todd's private area, and Todd pees in the bed. Score!
  • So thrilled with his plan, Bud has to hold in his laughter as he scoots out and snags his suitcase.
