Determine two or more main ideas of a text and explain how they are supported by key details; summarize the text.

With this standard, students will be doing essentially the same thing as fourth graders, except picking out two or more main ideas out of a text. If the main topic of an article is about Pluto, then two main ideas might be "Pluto is a very small dwarf planet that's farther out than Neptune" and "Pluto was once a planet but got plutoed."
