We're sure your kindergartners are anxiously awaiting the Faulkner unit, but everyone's gotta start somewhere.
The kindergarten Common Core Standards for Reading Literature are very much tied into the Foundational Skills and Language standards. Just 'cause they know how to read, doesn't mean we expect them to analyze their literature in relation to a cultural movement. Yet.
These standards stick to kinder-friendly texts (whodathunk?) and ask students to understand main ideas, characters, and the beginning, middle, and end of what they're reading.
