How we cite our quotes: (Chapter. Paragraph)
Quote #13
[Edward to Bella:] His voice was bleak. "Don't you want to know if I drink blood?" (9.105)
Edward asks Bella if she wants to know some of the more...upsetting things that he does, not just the fun supernatural skills. He's trying to scare Bella by being honest with her.
Quote #14
[Bella to Edward:] "And you'll show me what you meant, about the sun?" (10.204)
Edward has indicated that weird things happen to him in the sun, and Bella is excited to witness it herself. Contrary to typical vampire mythology, Meyer's vampires are not harmed by the sun, rather their skin sparkles like diamonds in sunlight.
Quote #15
Could [Billy] really believe the impossible legends his son had scoffed at? […] The answer was clear in Billy's eyes. Yes, yes, he could. (11.165, 166)
Billy truly believes the Quileute stories about vampires and werewolves, which is why he's so concerned about the Cullens. Billy, however, is careful not to break the treaty that his ancestors made with the Cullens – he never tells Bella outright that they are vampires.
