Character Analysis
Brandt will always be fondly remembered for being one of Philip Seymour Hoffman's weirdest roles, and Philip Seymour Hoffman played a lot of very weird characters. Devoted kiss-up to the Big Lebowski, Brandt's mostly there for comic effect: his bizarre laughter and awkward pauses are real scene stealers. He's really the ultimate lackey, and Hoffman plays it perfectly, practically salivating over Big's accomplishments. He's gracious to The Dude despite his shabby appearance. He's a very kind guy working for a very crooked one.
That's gotta be rough.
