How we cite our quotes: All quotations are from The Shawshank Redemption.
Quote #4
ANDY: I had Mr. Mozart to keep me company.
Just because someone's been dead for hundreds of years doesn't mean you can't still be tight with them. Part of the reason Andy's able to emotionally cope with his time at Shawshank is that he keeps his mind occupied. He may have to sleep alone in his cell, and he's not exactly allowed to take anyone with him into The Hole, but he can hang out with whoever he wants to in his mind. Because the great masters help him pass the time and stay sane, he considers them good, personal friends. That's fine, but he'd better not expect to be invited to any of their dinner parties.
Quote #5
Andy: You know, a place like that, I'd need a man who can get things.
The line on its own doesn't really read as "I love you," but it is, more or less, what Andy is saying. In the most manly, unemotional way possible. When talking about where he's going to go after leaving the prison, Andy says he could really use his friend's help as he's making a fresh start. He insinuates that life in this paradise of his still won't be complete unless he's got Red to share it with. Awww. What a Hallmark moment.
