Character Analysis
Emmanuelson is a Swedish fugitive who stops over, borrows some cash, and shares some fine wine on his way out of town. He is a curious fellow—we never find out why he's running from the law—who manages to walk across the desert without getting eaten by a lion, and, honest as he is, mails back the repayment of the loan he was given.
