The Death of Kinanjui
- The same year that the Baroness sells her farm Chief Kinanjui dies. His son comes to tell Blixen and she goes to visit him.
- Kinanjui's final wish is to be taken back to the Baroness' farm to die, instead of to the Mission. She refuses because she is afraid he will die in the car and she will be held responsible for his death.
- The Baroness says goodbye and that same night the Chief dies.
- He is buried in a Christian ceremony in an oddly-shaped coffin.
