Exactly how steamy is this story?

There’s no actual sex in The Diary of a Young Girl. There isn’t much more than kissing, in terms of the physical action. Still, Anne is very curious about sex and sexuality, and writes openly about her feelings. She describes attractions to boys (and, on at least one occasion, a girl) and gives us some rather pretty anatomy lessons.
She doesn’t just write about her sexuality; she also talks about it—with Peter van Daan, and also, in a different way, with her father and sister. As her relationship with Peter deepens, Anne seems to want to go further than writing or talking. But, for a variety of reasons, Anne and Peter never move beyond a pretty chaste courtship.
