Writing W.4.1.C
Link opinion and reasons using words and phrases (e.g., for instance, in order to, in addition).
Transitioning from one idea to another is sometimes tricky, but we're required to do it in our writing in order to get a smooth point across. Doesn't matter what kind of writing. Some students may struggle to appreciate the efficacy, so a little nudge in the transition direction can't hurt. For instance, give them examples of how transitions are constructed. In addition, a little before-and-after with transitions—because transitions sound awesome—should also do the trick.
