Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West Volume 2, Chapter 2, Part 6 Summary

How It All Goes Down

  • Back in Shiz, Boq finds an interesting picture in a book that shows a witch cradling a beast to her breast and preparing to nurse it:

Dramatically, or teleologically, this image seemed some sort of a hybrid of the creation myths of the Animals. (2.2.6.3)

  • Boq rips the picture out of the book (risking a library fine) and takes it to Elphaba.
  • The two discuss the painting and Elphaba says that Dillamond is getting more secretive and distracted by his work. He's on to something major.
  • Elphaba says Galinda is sulking, and she and Boq argue over his feelings for Galinda:

"She is my world" he answered.

"Your world is too small if she is it."
    (2.2.6.18-19)
