How we cite our quotes: (Chapter. Paragraph)
Quote #4
[Edward] put his hands carefully on both sides of my face. "I infuriate myself," he said gently. "The way I can't seem to keep from putting you in danger. My very existence puts you at risk. Sometimes I truly hate myself. I should be stronger. I should be able to." (17.244)
Edward hates himself for what he is, and for putting Bella at risk.
Quote #5
Edward turned on [Alice] in fury, his voice a blistering snarl. "There-is-no-other-option!" (18.90)
Edward hates the tracker for putting Bella at risk.
Quote #6
[James:] "I suppose you're going to tell me that your boyfriend will avenge you?" he asked, hopefully, it seemed to me.
[Bella:] "No, I don't think so. At least, I asked him not to." (22.101-102)
Knowing Edward and how much he hates anyone who threatens Bella, we're guessing that he'll be coming after James. Bella, however, doesn't seem to experience the same kind of intense, hateful emotions that Edward does.
