Hunting-Song of the Seeonee Pack
- This one-page chapter is the hunting-song, told in verse.
- The first stanza is about a wolf scout watching sambhur drink at the ol' watering hole.
- In the second stanza, the wolf carries word back to the pack, and they sought, found, and "bayed on his track" (2.11)
- In the third stanza, they're on the hunt: "Feet […] that leave no mark! / Eyes that can see in the dark" (2.15-2.16). We'd call them silent killers were it not for the howling five lines ago.
