Seven Scene 16 Summary

  • At John Doe's apartment, there's no answer when Mills bangs on the door.
  • A man shows up with a bag of groceries. The usual: milk, bread … and a gun. Bang, bang!
  • Neither Mills nor Somerset is hit.
  • Mills gives chase.
  • In the stairwell, the perp fires off a couple more shots.
  • A neighbor points Somerset to the back exit, so he goes to cut the guy off.
  • The guy runs through another apartment with Mills in hot pursuit.
  • He flees through a bathroom window in the alleyway. Mills peeks outside. Bang, bang, bang!
  • Mills chases the guy through the rain and into another building. This one seems almost abandoned.
  • The guy has been injured somehow, either shot or from jumping from buildings like Spider-Man. He's limping and bleeding, so Mills follows the trail.
  • Despite being injured, the guy slides down a fire escape and runs into traffic, where he gets clipped by a taxi.
  • Mills is not nimble. He falls into a trash pile and chases the dude across the street.
  • Mills is holding his shoulder. Either he's doing his best Napoleon impersonation or he was injured in the fall.
  • In an alley, the guy is waiting on a truck. He clocks Mills with something heavy, knocks him down, and puts a gun to his head.
  • But he doesn't pull the trigger. Somerset arrives. The man takes the gun and runs.
