Ordinary People Chapter 9 Summary

How It All Goes Down

  • After a math test, Conrad remembers the last math test he had, when he was feeling very hopeless and depressed. (Don't let math get you depressed, too, Shmoopers: we've got you covered.)
  • Conrad remembers the depression, which was before last Christmas during the family vacation to Florida.
  • Thinking of that trip, Conrad dreams of being trapped inside a metal tomb. We sat at least put some lights on the tomb if it's Christmas.
  • The next day, Dr. Berger says not to put too much stock in dreams.
  • Berger also tells Conrad not to put so much pressure on himself to be perfect.
