Ordinary People Chapter 17 Summary

How It All Goes Down

  • It's Conrad's eighteenth birthday.
  • Conrad and Dad clean out the garage. Wow, lamest birthday ever.
  • At lunch, Calvin asks Conrad if it would be okay if he himself were to go see Dr. Berger.
  • Conrad says that would be fine.
  • So now it's time for Dad's therapy session.
  • Calvin tells Berger he is dealing with lots of guilt. Survivor's guilt. By that, we mean that he outlived his son.
  • But the chapter ends before we get to the meat of the matter.
