Ordinary People Chapter 31 Summary

How It All Goes Down

  • Beth leaves.
  • Not to go play golf or tennis. She leaves. Bye-bye, family. No more Mom.
  • Beth doesn't even tell her own son goodbye. She leaves it up to Calvin to do that.
  • Beth leaving seems to bring father and son closer together, though. They even tell each other, "I love you" (31.77, 31.79).
  • Calvin insists that Beth will come back. Some day.
  • Yikes, is that a threat?
