Case File: King Aeetes vs. Medea (Murder)

Case File: King Aeetes vs. Medea (Murder)

Police Reports

Case Description: Complainant (King Aeetes) accuses Defendant (Medea) of murder. King Aeetes pursued Medea, Jason, and the Argonauts when they sailed away aboard the Argo. To delay her father, Medea killed her brother Abystrus, chopped him up in little pieces, and scattered his body in the sea. The king then had to stop and gather the pieces of his son to be sure the body received a proper burial.

Case Status: Case closed. Jason and Medea went to the sorceress Circe, Medea’s aunt, who washed them clean of the murder of Abystrus. (Seems like they might’ve gotten off a little light to us.)
