How we cite our quotes: (Chapter:Verse)
Quote #4
If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through his Spirit that dwells in you. (NRSV 8:11)
If the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. (KJV 8:11)
According to Paul, if you believe in Jesus, he's with you all the time. We're guessing he'd be pretty handy to have hanging around. Remember the whole loaves and fishes thing?
Quote #5
You did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received a spirit of adoption. When we cry, "Abba! Father!" it is that very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. (NRSV 8:15-17)
Ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ. (KJV 8:15-17)
Here, Paul says that Christians are now a part of God's shiny new family. Since many Gentiles weren't part of his original group, they've been adopted. God = best dad ever.
Quote #6
The creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and will obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning in labor pains until now; and not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly while we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies. (NRSV 8:21-23)
Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. (KJV 8:21-23)
According to Paul, even the planet is going to be freed from its chains once God has his say. Christians are the start of this transformation, but everyone else is going to follow soon.
