Dark Places Chapter 31 Summary

How It All Goes Down

Libby Day—Now

  • Libby looks up Trey Teepano, who owns a feed store. Seems he's gone from sacrificing cows to feeding them.
  • With Lyle in tow, Libby goes to the feed store to interrogate Trey.
  • Trey is there, and he's open to talking. He agrees with everything Libby says about him: he knew Libby's dad, Runner, owed him money, and he was into Satan worship. Affirmative.
  • Trey says he didn't really know Ben, though.
  • Libby asks about Diondra, and Trey says she ran away and was probably living under an assumed name.
  • When she was a teenager, Diondra always used her "porn name" (30.59), which is the name of her childhood pet and the street she grew up on. Diondra's was Polly Palm.
  • That was a bust… or at least Libby thinks so. She sulks into the car with Lyle, who is really excited about what happened, but the chapter ends before he can tell us why.
