One is a genius technician, the other a career thief. One is finicky and paranoid, the other eats clay and breaks wind on people. Oddly enough, they seem to admire each other, and it's only through their cooperation that the People find out Artemis has a copy of the Book. It's also hinted that Foaly is the only one who guesses what really happened when Mulch fakes his death.
