Analyze the purpose of information presented in diverse media and formats (e.g., visually, quantitatively, orally) and evaluate the motives (e.g., social, commercial, political) behind its presentation.
For the longest time, students have been asked to accept everything at face value without questioning the intent behind what's in front of them. With this Common Core Standard, things are about to change: it's time to show students what advertisements and commercials really are about or why someone would write an editorial, among other examples. Of course, all of this should be done over voice, not writing.
