Common Core Standards
Grade 7
Speaking and Listening SL.7.4
Present claims and findings, emphasizing salient points in a focused, coherent manner with pertinent descriptions, facts, details, and examples; use appropriate eye contact, adequate volume, and clear pronunciation.
Speech time. This standard pretty much just confirms everything you've known about what makes a good speech: clear main points; good evidence; the standard posture, voice, and eye contact thing; and foam fingers. (From experience, we can say that foam fingers make excellent pointers.) Just make sure that the foam fingers were never touched by Miley Cyrus.
