Read grade-level text with purpose and understanding.

It's weird for kids to think that they might be reading for a purpose, but we all read for a purpose. Maybe you're here to gain a greater understanding of these standards. Or to put yourself to sleep. We won't judge. Students also read for purpose, and talking about various reasons to read might clarify what purpose is.

Need a few ideas? Students may choose to read for entertainment, to understand a new concept, to learn something new, to enjoy the sound of language, or because it's loads of fun (it is).
