Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing.
More attention to detail. Your students have to know when to capitalize, when to use a period, when to use a comma, when to use a semicolon, and how to spell things correctly. As educators, we can teach and teach and our little darlings will still make the same mistakes. These rules are tough and still stump us sometimes. Sigh.
It's not about being perfect, but this standard emphasizes the value of attention to detail.
