20-Year Prospect

20-Year Prospect

Long-term growth for health inspection and related jobs is fairly slow, unfortunately, increasing by only seven percent by 2022 (source).

What will be changing drastically are the types of jobs, working conditions, and equipment that inspectors will have to examine in the coming years. New technology is great, sure, but with it comes new dangers; therefore, we'll need new techniques to avoid those dangers. So there may not be many new jobs for inspectors in the coming years, but the ones who are working will definitely be busy.

It's not like we're suddenly going to decide that things no longer need to be safe. That'd be ridiculous.
