Qualifications

Not everyone is cut out for this job. In fact, most people aren't cut out for this job.

You need a bit of a daredevil and you must be a cyclist who loves to ride more than anything else.

You should have really good coordination and a great sense of spatial awareness to know if you can make that light, cut that corner, and squeeze through those cars without getting flattened like a pancake.

You should know the rules of the road for cyclists (so you can know if you're breaking them).

You should also have:

  • A sturdy, fast bike with racing tires and a good strong helmet
  • A hard head
  • Wicked strong legs
  • Nerves of steel
  • Great sense of direction
  • The ability to weave around taxi cabs, cars, pedestrians, buses, and hop over train tracks
