And here's your shmoop du jour...
- 00:04
The surface area of a cube is 294 square inches.
- 00:08
What is the volume of said cube?
- 00:12
And here are the potential answers...
- 00:15
Well problems with any kind of cube

are kinda nice because you just have to figure out one side
- 00:21
then multiply by six. Yeah one for each side of the cube.
- 00:24
Okay the surface area is side time side
- 00:28
times 6 so in this case we just divide 294
- 00:32
by six. Do that first to get 49
- 00:35
So thats the area of a side
- 00:38
and the formula for area length times height
- 00:41
and since it's cube we know length and height are
- 00:44
equal in length well the only number that will satisfy the stack is seven
- 00:48
times seven
- 00:49
thats 49 the length of one side is 7
- 00:53
and we know that the formula for the volume of a cube is
- 00:57
length times height times depth
- 01:00
in this case it's 7 times 7 times 7 and the volume is 343
- 01:06
also know that the inches argued that third power or cubed
- 01:10
so watch out for it. Looks like C is our answer.
