How do you use Shmoop?
I've used Shmoop to provide students with ACT test prep and connect literature to students' lives. I've also used Shmoop's discussion questions to bring students to the next level in terms of their thinking about literature. Shmoop has also been a good review for students who struggle with understanding the literature we cover in class.
What's your favorite Shmoop product?
I used the teaching guide for The Book Thief and loved it! The ACT test prep was also a huge help when I had to teach ACT prep for a semester and had no clue where to start.
We've got your back, Jaime.
What is the coolest experience you've had using Shmoop?
The students find the video reviews helpful and engaging; it's a nice treat for them to watch in class after we've finished a work of literature.
What was the last book that made you laugh out loud?
The last book that made me laugh out loud was Two for the Dough by Janet Evanovich. Stephanie Plum's character is so quirky; she makes me want to be a bounty hunter, except I feel I would fail worse than she does.
You're killing it in the classroom, though.
The nicest thing a student has ever said/done for you?
The nicest thing a student ever told me was that I have a wicked style and she's taking notes. I don't consider myself stylish whatsoever, so the fact that a student complimented me on my outfit choices was really nice, and I truly believe she was being sincere.
It's hip to be square. Or so we're told.
