Sure, Khan has shades of a tragic hero to him, with some genuine grievances about being marooned and a wife who he really seems to love.

But that doesn't change the fact that he's all about hijacking ships, putting space eels in people's brains and stealing planet-killing bombs in order to do who knows what once he's finished settling the protagonist's hash.
