One of the biggest challenges with teaching this novel is the language. The spelling is British—aeroplane, centre, organised, colour, rumour…you get the gist. Luckily, this is all pretty easily explained to the students. It's the unknown words, phrases, and syntax that might be really challenging. C. S. Lewis was a well-read, highly intelligent man who wrote for people with extensive vocabularies.
