This one's a no-brainer given how much screen time Scottie gets and how much of Vertigo's story depends on him. Hitch follows him while he follows Madeleine, and for most of the film, our only access to Madeleine is through his point of view. We're identifying with his conflict and he's the one whose character development we're seeing.
