Detective Hal Slocumb (Harvey Keitel)’s Timeline and Summary

  • Hal enters the scene of the crime after Harlan is shot. We figure out that he's a pretty professional guy when we see him refuse to buy a drink for the super friendly server for her time but is nice about it.
  • Along with the FBI, Hal investigates Louise's apartment and then Thelma's, tapping Thelma and Darryl's phone in case Thelma calls home, and staking out the place.
  • When J. D. is captured, Hal speaks privately with him and gets mad at him for stealing all the women's money. J. D. tells him everything he knows.
  • After Thelma holds up the convenience store, Hal watches the security video of the whole ordeal. He's impressed with Thelma's coolness.
  • Hal gets a call from Louise and tries to convince her to turn herself and Thelma in for questioning. Louise hangs up.
  • Later, Hal receives another call from Louise during which she tells him it was all an accident. Hal lets Louise know that since she didn't come back for questioning, she'll be charged with murder. He also tells her that he knows what happened to her in Texas.
  • Once they trace the call, the FBI set out to capture Thelma and Louise, with Hal in tow.
  • When Thelma and Louise are surrounded by troopers and agents, Hal has a bit of a freak-out in reaction to all the guns that are pointed those ladies' way, but he can't change anything.
  • When he realizes Thelma and Louise are about to commit suicide, Hal races after the flying Thunderbird, but to no avail.
