The Sun is Also a Star Chapter 113: Daniel Summary

How It All Goes Down

  • Daniel immediately sees a file with Natasha Kingsley written on it and asks Attorney Fitzgerald if he's an immigration lawyer.
  • He is, and Daniel tells him he thinks he knows one of his clients.
  • Fitzgerald saved his life—he just met Natasha today, and she's The One, and now she won't be deported because of him.
  • Fitzgerald is skeptical, and he asks Daniel why he's there. Does he want to study pre-med, go to Yale, or even go to college? Daniel doesn't know.
  • NOTE: Shmoop highly advises against telling alumni of any school that you don't really want to go there after all.
  • Fitzgerald tells him he doesn't have to go to Yale, and Daniel tells him he does; his parents won't pay for any other college if he doesn't.
  • Fitzgerald says the time to try big things and potentially make mistakes is when you're young—it gets harder when you're older and have more responsibilities.
  • He knows from experience since he's in love with his paralegal, but he has to let her go.
  • He breaks the news to Daniel that he'll have to do the same with Natasha: He couldn't stop her deportation.
  • Daniel is shell-shocked, asking if there's anything else he can do. There isn't.
  • Daniel gets up to leave, and Fitzgerald tells him that, even if he's not passionate about Yale, it could open a lot of doors for Daniel like it did for him.
  • Daniel accurately notes that Fitzgerald did all the right things and he's still not happy. Daniel wants to spend every last second possible with Natasha.
