William Morel Timeline and Summary

William starts off looking like a pretty good protagonist.
He's the apple of his mother's eye and a very active young boy. He hates it when he doesn't get his way, but what little boy doesn't?
As he gets older, William gets a job at a co-op in town and very quickly becomes their top clerk.
He likes to dance and flirt with girls, many of whom call for him at home, despite his mother's disapproval.
William rises quickly in the business world. Before you know it, he's taken a job with very high pay in London.
He sends a lot of money home at first.
But then he meets a girl named Lily and falls in love with her beauty. He writes home about her and sends photos to show her off.
He brings Lily home for Christmas one year.
He spends almost all of his money keeping Lily in fine things these days.
His mother tells him not to ruin himself by marrying Lily, but he doesn't listen.
Eventually, his health deteriorates and he gets sick in London. His mother comes to take care of him, but he dies.
Paul, buddy, you're up to the plate as protagonist now.
