Paul Morel

At first, it might look like Paul's older brother, William, will make a fine protagonist for the story. But midway through Chapter 6, dude just up an dies. How dare he, we wonder?

That leaves us with sensitive little Paul, who becomes the central focus of our (and his mother's) attention. From then on, we follow Paul as he struggles to find his way in an industrial world that doesn't suit his sensitive nature, and to find love despite the super-clingy hold his mommy has on him.
