The Sneetches and Other Stories Too Many Daves Summary

  • Mrs. McCave names all twenty-three of her sons Dave, but we never find out why she went the all-the-same-name route.
  • When she calls for just one, she regrets not buying a baby names book. A stampede of blonde boys rushes for the door.
  • Mrs. McCave imagines all the names she could have named her sons. Some are nonsensical (Putt-Putt or Paris Garters, anyone?) and none can be described as plain (Zanzibar Buck-Buck McFate, for the win). But it sure beats her current predicament.
  • Unfortunately for Mrs. McCave, it's a little too late.
