We're pretty sure no one is going to be scandalized by A Room With a View. Yes, there is a murder, but the murder will probably be more of a problem for Lucy than it is for you or your students. While murders are generally in bad taste, the description isn't overly gory in this book, other than the dude's mouth opening and blood coming out—nothing we haven't seen a million times on The Walking Dead. In other words, it's murder 1908-style and pretty tame by today's standards.

As far as novels go, this one is pretty low-key. There is that kiss… and another… but they are kisses and nothing more. Just as the murder isn't gory by today's standards, nor is the romance scandalous. There is some paternalism and racist attitudes about Italians, but it's easy to see that the folks who hold such views are dolts. This means your job trying to play interception with parents will be simple.
