The Man with the Shade Timeline and Summary

The man with the shade comes into the custodians’ room where the narrator and the other two custodians are gathered. He coughs up a storm and sits down clumsily, receiving a nasty look from the man with the withered arm.
At the offer of the man with the withered arm, the man with the shade has a drink.
The next morning, the man with the shade is with the narrator and the other two custodians, although we don’t know of his presence until he speaks.
After the narrator says the red room is haunted by fear, the man with the shade announces that he knew this all along. He claims that fear will not leave the room until the house itself is gone.
