Scatter Plots Examples

Make a scatter plot from the following made-up data.

First we draw the axes. We'll have Borogoves be on the first (x) axis, and Mome Raths on the second (y) axis. If the Mome Raths ask, however, tell them we're putting them on the first axis. You do not want to offend a Mome Rath.

Since the smallest value we ever see for Mome Raths is 68, we'll use the funny jagged line to skip some numbers on the y-axis:

Then we fill in the dots:

Use the scatter plot to answer the following questions.

1. How many dwarves are there when there are 50 elves?
2. Were more dwarves observed when there were 30 elves, or 10 elves?
3. Two observations were made that included 15 dwarves. How many elves were observed in each of these observations?
