How we cite our quotes: (Chapter: Verse)
Quote #4
As for those who in the present age are rich, command them not to be haughty, or to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but rather on God who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, generous, and ready to share, thus storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of the life that really is life. (1 Timothy 6:17-19, NRSV)
Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. (1 Timothy 6:17-19, KJV)
Same thing with being rich. Sure, you can spend all your time bringing in the Benjamins…or you can be a good Christian. Hey, you can't take that money with you, but good deeds are as good as gold in Heaven.
Quote #5
But God's firm foundation stands, bearing this inscription: "The Lord knows those who are his," and, "Let everyone who calls on the name of the Lord turn away from wickedness." In a large house there are utensils not only of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for special use, some for ordinary. All who cleanse themselves of the things I have mentioned will become special utensils, dedicated and useful to the owner of the house, ready for every good work. (2 Timothy 2:19-21, NRSV)
Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. (2 Timothy 2:19-21, KJV)
Good people are like forks and spoons? Um, kind of. Basically, if you're a Godly person, God will have use for you. If not…well, into the trash bin you go. Sorry, sinners.
Quote #6
Now you have observed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness. (2 Timothy 3:10, NRSV)
But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience. (2 Timothy 3:10, KJV)
