Character Role Analysis

Farah v. Kamante

Okay, this one isn't so easy because, like we might have mentioned before, characters in this memoir don't get all that much development. But here goes. Farah is the Somali servant who understands the Europeans better, and is just calm and collected. Kamante is a Kikuyu servant who has sophisticated kitchen skills but chooses to eat simple, native fare. In comparison to Farah he's a country bumpkin. We get the feeling that Blixen views them as being on opposite ends of the Native spectrum.
