Rebeca and Amaranta

Two sisters who fall for the same guy – what a classic love triangle, right? Not really. Rebeca never hesitates to take matters into her own hands: trying to seduce Pietro Crespi, actually seducing José Arcadio (II), then eventually shooting José Arcadio (II) because he's become a monster. Amaranta, on the other hand, starts out a lively and energetic-seeming girl but turns into a repressed, withdrawn woman whose main action in life is not to act. The differences between two highlight each of their own characteristics, making them perfect foils.
