Fernanda del Carpio & the Banana Company

Again, the novel really resists these kinds of characterizations, but these two are probably the baddest baddies of the bunch. Fernanda represents private, or domestic evil, having Mauricio Babilonia shot, her daughter locked away in a convent, and her grandson raised in isolated captivity. The banana company is the ultimate corporate, impersonal evil, mowing down 3,000 unarmed and innocent people just because they're asking for a fair shake.
