In the Viking Age, the name of one of the creators, Vé, also referred to a holy place where no violence could be done (source). Does anyone else think that's a bit odd? Vé was one of the gods who helped kill and rip apart the giant Ymir.

In Old Icelandic, Ymir's name means "noisemaker" (source: The World Book Dictionary).

The TV series Stargate: SG-1 features a friendly alien species called the Asgard. In the TV series, these aliens' portrayal of the Norse gods is an effort to help the humanity supposedly inspired the Norse mythology (source: Stargate SG-1 Season 1, Episode 9, "Thor's Hammer").
