This appears to be a children's book. It's full of drawings and the narrator talks to children and commiserates with them about the strangeness of grown-ups. It's a fairly simple story to read and understand… but is it a children's story? Yes, it's for children. However, it's for adults, too.

Its allegorical nature makes it a great read for all ages. If you look at Saint-Exupéry's circumstances when he was writing, it's easy to see the powerful statements he made against war.
